Yes, the CD download and the software download function the same way.

As long as your 2022 .tax file is on your computer, TurboTax can find it and roll the information forward for this year.

The CD and download versions are the same. The only difference is that the installation file for the download version is saved on your hard-drive instead of being on a CD. It's the online version that runs on an intuit server and is accessed through a browser or a mobile app that is different, but ever then you can upload your previous yea's tax file to transfer in when beginning the subsequent year's tax return.
