For tax year 2023 you indicate that you ae Married and will be filing with your spouse (Married Filing Jointly).

When entering your spouse's personal information there will be a screen asking if they passed away. Check that box and then enter the date of their passing.

Hello, my husband passed away in Dec 2023. I'm confused how turbo tax is asking questions. We've always filed jointly and I'm unsure what to do in the program.

You should indicate that your spouse is deceased. You can file a married filing jointly tax return exactly as you would if the spouse was still living. Nothing changes on your return for the year of death of the spouse. Next year you will need to file single.
