      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Anyone whose field of vision falls at or below 20 degrees, who wears corrective glasses but whose vision is 20/200 or less in their best eye, or who has no eyesight at all, meets the legal definition of being blind and is eligible for certain deductions.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;There is not a deduction for blindness.&amp;nbsp; However, you can get an increase in your Standard Deduction for being blind, but your condition must be as noted in the IRS instructions -&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Blindness&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;If you weren’t totally blind as of December 31, 2023, you must get a statement&amp;nbsp;certified by your eye doctor (ophthalmologist or optometrist) that:&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;• You can't see better than 20/200 in&amp;nbsp;your better eye with glasses or contact&amp;nbsp;lenses, or&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;• Your field of vision is 20 degrees&amp;nbsp;or less.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;If your eye condition isn't likely to&amp;nbsp;improve beyond the conditions listed&amp;nbsp;above, you can get a statement certified&amp;nbsp;by your eye doctor (ophthalmologist or&amp;nbsp;optometrist) to this effect instead.&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;EM&gt;You must keep the statement for your&amp;nbsp;records&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
