What teacher tax credit are you asking about? Do you mean the deduction if you are a K-12 teacher? That is not an itemized deduction. It does not go on Schedule A with itemized deductions such as mortgage interest.

The deduction is up to $300. You may have spent less. Determine that amount you can claim times your tax rate and see if it is worth upgrading. For example, if you are in the 10% tax bracket, it would save you about $30 whereas if you are in the 35% tax bracket it would save you $105 and may be worth the upgrade.
