When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return. You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return. The state e-file fee is $20 and increases to $25 in March.

The TurboTax Basic desktop CD/Download edition to be installed on a personal computer can be purchased on this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/

The TurboTax Basic desktop edition is not the same as the TurboTax Live Basic online edition, if that is what you were referring to. The desktop editions and the online editions are separate programs, with different features and price points. You do Not get Tax Expert support when using the desktop editions.
