When you file 2022 on paper you do not need your 2021 AGI.

Your 2021 AGI is not needed for you to file 2022. You only needed it to e-file 2022 before the filing deadline last year. Now e-filing is permanently closed for 2022, so you can only file it by mail. You do not need AGI to file by mail. Print, sign and date your 2022 return in ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

And if you did not file a timely 2022 return you will have trouble e-filing 2023. When it asks for your 2022 AGI try using zero. If zero does not work then you have to print, sign and mail 2023.

And.....we had better check......are you using the CD/download for the 2022 return you are trying to prepare? You cannot use online TurboTax for 2022. Online is only for 2023 returns. No other year. If you are preparing a 2022 return it has to be prepared using the CD/download on a full PC or Mac. If you are making a mistake and trying to use online---post back here for further help.
