license key issue

Dear sir/madam:

My friend bought a turbotax 2023 CD from Costco and shared with multiple people including me. When I loaded the software and typed in license key code, somehow the error massage shows it does not work. I triplcheck and the code is correctly entered. Not Sure if this issue related to different user accounts my friend and I use.

Sorry but you have never been able to share the CD. The license is that you can install it on 5 computers you own. They are now enforcing it more by tying it to an online account.

#1 Supplemental License Grant and Restrictions

In addition to the General License Grant you may: (i) install and use a copy of the Software on up to five (5) computers owned by you (at home or at work); (ii) use the Software only to prepare, print and/or electronically file your federal 2023 tax year returns and related 2023 state tax returns as described below; (iii) make one backup copy of the Software for your personal use as permitted under this license grant.
