Maybe you are waiting for some forms. Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.

Many federal and state forms are not yet available. Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.

Tax form availability tool,

No hurry to e-file since the IRS will not begin to accept/reject 2023 e-files until January 29.

The Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB you'll notice on tax forms) must approve all tax forms. then the approved forms must be programmed by the tax software companies. Your return contains a form or forms that were probably based on 2022 until they're updated for 2023 you'll get this message and can not e-file. Nor should you mail because certain ones will contain computations based on 2022 not 2023.
