TurboTax 2023 and importing last years amended returns

For last years Fed and State returns I had to file amended returns. After I installed TT 2023 the software went out looking for previous returns, does TT 2023 import all the correct data from the amended return (1040-X) or the original return (1040-SR) ? I tried to force it to import the amended return but got an error.

Yes you can Transfer from the amended 2022 file. If you have both .tax2022 files you need to pick the right one. What error did you get?

Hi VolvoGirl, Sorry I don't recall the error as this was 2 weeks or so ago, but after looking at what was imported it appears the software made a "corrected" copy of the 1040 with the appropriate numbers modified. I guess my biggest "problem" is that I had hoped the SW would have acknowledged the presence of the 2 returns and then tell me what it was going to do. It just makes me leary as I move on when I start getting the rest of the 2023 return completed. I will monitor to keep an eye on the numbers.
