Great question!

As both a CPA and an Enrolled Agent, I will say that either one is a great choice. Enrolled agents are specifically trained as federally authorized tax practitioners. CPAs also may be tax experts, but typically have a broader, more comprehensive accounting and auditing background. Personally, I am much more comfortable providing tax advice and preparation since attaining the EA designation.

For a more detailed look at the qualifications and differences, please check out this recently updated post from my colleagues: https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/tax-pro/ea-vs-cpa-tax-professionals-whats-the-difference/L9KRVtXpV#GoTo-What-is-a-CPA--Certified-Public-Accountant--
