I want to claim foreign tax credit. How can I manually create Form 1116?

I want to claim foreign tax credit. I do not have any official records (acceptable in US) but I have filed foreign tax return. I want to use this data to manually create Form 1116 and file the total numbers. But how do I do this in Turbotax?

In order to create form 1116 and claim the foreign tax credit, you need to report your annual tax return and report your foreign income if you are a US Citizen or resident of USA. You cannot not just claim the credit by itself. You need to report your foreign income in your tax return. To do that you can use Turbo Tax.

1. Open your tax return in Turbo Tax

2. Enter all your foreign income in "Wages & Income"

3. Select "Search", enter/type "foreign tax credit" and select "Jump to foreign tax credit"

- Or go to Deductins & credits and select Start next to "Foreign Tax Credit" under "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid"
