Do you want to file Joint? When your husband entered his name under My Info did he pick Married and filing together? Then it opens up to type in the spouse's name. Then to enter your income, when Turbo Tax says "you" it means either of you. When you start to enter a W2 or 1099 form it will ask you it is for.

You do not change the person. When you prepare a joint return, ALL of your combined income and information goes on the same tax return. You are supposed to be entering everything on ONE tax return. Whichever spouse entered their information first will be addressed as "you" by the software. The software does not know or care who is sitting at the keyboard. If you are entering income make sure to watch for the names of each spouse on income entry screens and enter it under the right spouse's name. It sounds like your spouse started first, so "you" means your spouse to the software. Watch for your own name on certain entry screens.

That is assuming, of course, that your spouse started your joint return correctly. Better check. Look at your Form 1040. Does the filing status up near the top of the first page show a check or "x" in the Married filing jointly" box?

When you enter your own information in My Info, you have to answer the question "Were you married?" If you click the button for Married, then a drop down will appear that asks, "Do you want to file this return together with your spouse?" Then you choose yes to file a joint return. You would then enter your spouse's information into Personal Info. Whenever you are entering income information there should then be a spot for you and for your spouse's income information.

When you prepare a joint return you include all the information for both spouses on the SAME tax return. Include all of your personal information, all of your income from every source, all dependents (if any), all credits and deductions for both of you. You get ONE refund with both names on it.
