Re Mac Desktop Home and Business 2022 Turbo Tax Software. Downloaded.

After starting my 2022 Turbo Tax return I noticed none of my previous year"s (2021) Turbo Tax Return data has been imported even though I thought I did.

How do I go about importing my previous years (2021) Turbo Tax Return data now that I have already started and saved the partially complete 2022 return?

Sorry you can't. You can only Transfer the prior year at the beginning before you start 2022. So you would need to start over, go up to File-New. Or have to manually enter any 2021 info as you go along.

Sorry, but there is no way to transfer data from the previous year after you have started the tax return. You can only transfer when you first start the return, before you enter any new information.

How do I transfer last year's return into the 2022 TurboTax software for Mac?

Sorry---you have to transfer 2021 in to 2022 BEFORE you start entering any new information. You cannot do that after you have already begun putting in 2022 information.

If you need to transfer, then you will have to start over.

To start over in the Desktop program you just start a NEW return. Go up to the very top bar and go to File-New Tax return. This first return will still be on your computer so give the new return a new name to tell them apart. You can have multiple returns in the Desktop program.

I am using a Downloaded desktop Mac 2022 Turbo tax Software.

When I go to File a new page opens up and it says we are ready to file your return.

There is no choice to FILE NEW RETURN.

Pease Help!!

I have been trying so hard just to get my 2021 tax return imported.

How do you start over?

There is no choice that I can see anywhere that says:

Start NEW RETURN

START OVER.

The FILE tab on the very top does NOT give me any choice to start a new Return.

I am using a downloaded Mac 2022 TT software.

Yes, I did try the link

Open TurboTax for Mac 2022 and choose File New Tax Return.

I do not see the choice of File New Tax Return when I open Turbo Tax.

Please Help!!

Sorry I use Windows. Maybe someone with a Mac can post a screen shot. Try going up to the Apple bar and Quit Turbo Tax. Then relaunch the program and it may be back at the beginning screen.

You are on a Mac? Go up to the top of your screen next to the little apple. To the right of the apple it says TurboTax -- keep moving to the right-- See the word "File?" Click that and then click on New Tax Return. (You are making the mistake of going to the toolbar inside the program.)

It's not the File tab showing in your return. It's the menu item File up in the very top Apple bar that is hidden. Move your cursor up to the top so the Apple bar opens. Then it's in one of the first menu drop-down items. I don't recall what choices you have up there. Maybe it says Turbo Tax.

I do not know how but I was able to get to a point that I can import last years (2021) Turbo Tax file on my Mac air. I tried importing the 2021 tax Return file. Now Turbo Tax says the file is too large to import.

I have 2022 Mac Home and Bus TT desktop software

What do I do?

How can do I my 2022 taxes if I cannot import the 2021 tax return?

If it actually uses the word "import" you're in the wrong place. In TurboTax, bringing your 2021 data into your 2022 tax return is called transferring, not importing. You can only transfer data from the previous year on the very first screen when you start a new tax return.

Close out of TurboTax on your Mac. Take a breath. Then re-launch TurboTax. With the program open---look for the little apple at the top of your computer's screen---top left corner. Move to the right---it says TurboTax. Then it says File. Click on File. You will get a drop down that offers "New Tax Return." Click that.

Your screen will say Hi, Welcome to TurboTax!

Click the word Begin.

Next screen will say "Let's get a jumpstart on your 2022 Taxes"

Choose Use a Tax return that's on my computer, and it will pull up a list of returns that are stored on your hard drive

Click the one you want from 2021

Then click Continue to transfer
