topic filng rejected, but credit card charge went through in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I transmitted a return in TurboTax with an authorization to charge the tax amount due to a credit card, and the charge immediately went through. But then the return was rejected as I had to add an additional form (1095-A for health insurance). I added the form in TurboTax, and it changed the amount due on my taxes to a higher number. But the program now wants me to re-submit the return authorizing the new TOTAL amount as a new credit card charge without giving me credit for the charge that has already gone through. Is there a way to change the amount to be charged to my credit card to the BALANCE of what I owe (i.e., the new total minus the amount already paid)? (I was thinking I could change the remittance choice to "I'll mail a check," submit the new return, and then mail in the balance owed... Would this work...?)

If your e-file was rejected, then nothing was transmittted---which means the information you had on that return to pay the tax due was not transmitted to the IRS. What is making you believe it went through? Do you see it on your credit card account? Check with your credit card account.

Yes, the charge went through on my credit card account. (The initial transmission of the return was successful, but I later got an email telling me the return was rejected and needed the additional information.)

For those following this thread or looking for an answer in the future, I got the solution from TurboTax Support. Here it is: you re-open your TTax filing and go to the section where Estimated Payments are listed. Beneath the standard Quarterly payment boxes, there is a link to "Add Addtional Payment." There you enter the payment that you made -- in my case the credit card charge that was processed with my first filing transmission. This immediately changed the tax due in my filing to the balance of what I owed rather than the total tax calculated as if I hadn't made the first payment. The filing then went through, the balance was charged to my same credit card, and the return was accepted by Federal and State.
