Who is the email from? It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used
https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

Was your efile Accepted? Maybe it rejected or you didn't finish filing it. You can double check your efile status here,
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup

When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?

Thank you for the quick response. The email is from turbotax. After receiving it reinstalled the app and signed back into my account. Now it tells me I still need to file, but first I need to set up a way to pay my federal taxes. I already payed that through the irs website and have the conformation number and everything from the same date I paid the deluxe filing for turbo tax. So on that end I do not know what I should put as the payment option since I've already paid and I do not want them charging me again.

Going back through my emails I never received one from turbo tax telling me my efile was accepted or rejected. Just the emails pertaining to the payments, setup, and offers.

Again thank you for responding and giving advice

Oh, since you already paid the tax due then say you will mail a check. Then don't mail a check. You reinstalled the app? Did you buy and install the Desktop program? That may make a difference.

Ok ... did you actually efile successfully ? If you did not the TT program is reminding you to do so now. If you made the payment already directly thru the IRS site so as already mentioned simply choose the mail in check option in the program so you can proceed to efiling.

If you are not sure if you successfully efiled then you can check the IRS online using the Where's My Refund? tool by entering in $1 for the refund when asked ... https://www.irs.gov/refunds

It's unclear what you did. I have some other comments that may help you figure it out.

If you have a Turbotax Online account, you may get emails reminding you to file, even if you already filed using a different online account, or you filed using the program installed on your own computer. You can ignore these emails if you know you filed.

Whenever you e-file (on the desktop application or the web site), there is an additional step to actually File/Transmit your return that comes after setting up your tax payments and Turbotax fees. It is possible that you missed this last step. In that case, change your tax return to say "I will mail a check" and then transmit the return. By selecting "I will mail a check", the program won't make an electronic payment, and you don't have to actually mail a check if you already paid.

If you want to check if your tax return was filed or not, you can try getting your transcript. Your tax return transcript will show if you filed a return, and your account transcript will show your payments and any balance due. If you never filed, but you did pay, there will be a payment on your account but no 2022 transcript.

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Please double-check your payment method to be sure you really did pay. If you selected electronic payment in Turbotax, but never filed, then the IRS should not be able to actually collect the payment (because they never had your info). Check your bank account to make sure a payment was really deducted. (If you paid separately on the IRS web site, that would be unaffected by the failure to transmit.)

Lastly, if you owed a tax payment, and you paid on time but did not file on time, the IRS may send you a bill for a late filing penalty, which is 0.5% per month of the amount you owed. If you also failed to pay, the penalty is 5% per month. When you get the notice, you can request a waiver from the IRS if this is your first time owing a penalty or if you believe you have reasonable cause.

https://www.irs.gov/payments/penalty-relief-due-to-first-time-abate-or-other-administrative-waiver

Unfortunately, missing the final "Transmit" step is not covered by the Turbotax guarantee because Turbotax has no control over when and why some people skip this step.
