When I opened up Turbo Tax to amend my return, two bogus numbers appeared in the federal and state boxes at the top of the screen EVEN BEFORE I ENTERED EVEN ONE NUMBER. I closed out the amended return and said "do not save". The result is that my 2022 tax return disapeared !! It's gone ! I want Turbo Tax to replace the software for free so that I can re-entry my 2022 data.

@rjkrapfl1 Look in the TurboTax folder within the Documents directory. There may be a 2022 tax data file at the top of the list with a tilde (~) which is an auto back-up of the date file. If not, then check your Recycle Bin for the data file (Windows). If not in the Bin then search your drives (local and cloud) for the data file.

The software does not need to be replaced you just need to find the 2022 tax data file which will have a file extension of .tax2022. If the data file is not found you would only need to start a new 2022 tax return.

If you still cannot locate the 2022 data file then contact TurboTax support for assistance.
