In trying to use the W4 calculator, I am stuck on what to put for "Your total state withholding expected for 2023". How do I make that determination?

Hi, @lolo7 ! The simplest way would be to look at your state withholding for one pay period, then multiply that number by the number of pay periods in the year. This should be accurate if your pay is relatively stable throughout the year. Is this helpful?

That is helpful- however it is a new job that I will be transitioning to full time from my current job, meaning I will work more hours. Any idea how to account for this in my estimation? I have only received 2 small paychecks.

You might just have to take your best "stab" at the correct number, extrapolating off of the data you have. So if your income is increasing my 20% for example, then perhaps your withholding will increase by a similar percentage. Additionally, you might want to revisit this once you have more data; that is, more paychecks at the new rate. Hope this helps!
