You'll have to manually enter your scholarships if none are listed on your 1098-T form.

TurboTax will ask about scholarships and other financial aid when you get to the Education section in Deductions & Credits.

To quickly get to that section of TurboTax:

Type scholarships in the search box and click on Jump to scholarships.

On the Do you want to enter your higher education expenses? screen, select Yes.

Continue with the onscreen interview until you get to the Scholarships and Financial Aid screen. Select Continue.

On the Did XXX Receive a Scholarship or Grant in 2022? screen, select Yes and enter the amount in the popup.

Scholarships or portions of scholarships may be taxable. It all depends on how you use them.

If you use your scholarship to pay for any of these, it counts as income and the amount paid is taxable:

Room and board

Travel and incidental expenses

Any fees, books, and supplies or equipment that aren't required for your courses

If you're getting a degree at an eligible school, your scholarship is tax-free when used for:

Tuition and fees

Fees, books, supplies or equipment required for your courses

Any scholarship or fellowship for services received under the National Health Services Corps Scholarship Program or the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and Financial Assistance Program

For example, if you used your scholarship to pay for tuition and room and board, you would be taxed on the room and board payment but not on tuition.

On my 1098-T form it has nothing in box 5 , however I received scholarship money for my tuition. I have not had to pay anything for school yet. In Turbo Tax it has me fill in the box 1 , but it is allowing me to take the educational credit . I am not sure this is correct since I have a scholarship and am not paying anything for my tuition. Do I still get to take one of the educational credits or since I have a scholarship , I cannot ? How do I fix this on Turbo Tax?

Thanks,

DB
