I purchased the software for desktop version of 2022 TurboTax. Now when ready to complete the filing, I'm being charged $129 for Live Assisted and another $64 for Calif Tax Return. I did use Live Assisted for a brief question about my final tax review, but the additional $64 for the Calif piece I'm not clear on.

You cannot use the license code for the CD/download to pay for online TurboTax. And now it sounds like you used online and even upgraded to use the "Live" expert help. When you use online software you pay a separate additional fee for preparing a state return.

You can seek a refund for the CD/download ---but you will have to pay the fees for using online Live.
