I filed on Credit Karma without realizing that CK couldn't accommodate partial residencies (I moved from Virginia to DC in August). The federal return was accepted through Credit Karma.

Now, I need to file the state taxes, but they're seemingly dependent on the federal return -- which is getting rejected because I already filed.

How should I proceed?

To e-file a state return, you have to e-file a federal return from the same account. Since you've already filed your federal return, you won't be able to e-file your state return. You will have to print and mail it.
