I lived in NY for 11 months in 2022 . My wife lived in GA. ,we got married in December 2022 . We have filed our federal and and GA taxes successfully . However the software wouldn’t allow us to file the NY. I’m not sure , would I be considered a full resident of NY and my wife a non resident?

It depends of you established changed domicile- you could file either as a full-year or part-year (it should not make a difference in the efiling) with your spouse as nonresident. Were you given a specific reason or code for not allowing the New York e-file?

This is what is says:

You've told us that (my name) is either a full-year resident or a part-year resident of New York City and(Wife) doesn't have the same New York City residency status. If this is not correct, go back to the screen and make any changes you need to. If this is correct, then you won't be able to file your New York state tax return with us. You can still e-file your federal return.

we can’t share the same NYC status because she didn’t live in NYC all last year
