In order to upgrade to a higher version of Turbo Tax, follow the steps.

Make sure you’re signed into TurboTax and have opened your return.
If you don't see this option, select Upgrade from the menu.
- If you don’t see the menu, select the menu icon from the toolbar.
Select the version you'd like to upgrade to.
We'll prompt you to pay if you want to print or e-file your taxes. You can also prepay at any time:
- Select File from the menu. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to file taxes—this just gets you to the payment section.)
- Select Start or Revisit next to Review your order.
- You’ll see a summary of your order. Select View payment options.
- Keep going until you see How would you like to pay for TurboTax? On that screen, select Pay with Credit Card.
- Enter your credit card information and select Continue.

Currently using TT Premium. Need to upgrade to Self-employed version. I followed the instructions above. But the Self-employed version is not offered as an option. How do I upgrade from Premium to Self-employed. Seems like a really simple question.

Thanks for the reply. When I follow your instructions, this is what I see (screenshot inserted below). There's no option to choose the "Self-Employed" version. I'm already using the Premium version and need to upgrade to Self-employed . Can you recommend steps to help? Thanks, ~ Ric

Thanks for your reply. We're getting close but still not there yet. I can already see the "Update" link. That's how I'm able to provide the screenshot from the previous post. When I click the "Update" link, and click "Do It Yourself" I only see the Free, Deluxe, and Premium versions of Turbotax. I want to upgrade to Self-Employed which is not being shown. I CAN see the Self-employed version when I Google it using a new browser tab. But, when I log in to start using it, it reverts back to my Premium (not Self-Employed) version. Perhaps I need to start with a completely new User ID. There MUST be a way I can use the Self-Employed version of TT. But how?

You don't need to upgrade to Self-Employed if you are using TurboTax Premium.

TurboTax Premium is a brand new version of TurboTax that includes all the features of Premier and Self-Employed.
