HOW TO REMOVE THE PREMIUM SERVICE?

I got a pop up due to the federal return I needed the deluxe for an additional $60, I go to pay and there is an additional charge for the state for $50, when nothing for the state changed

When you needed to switch to Deluxe, that took you out of the free version for both the Federal and State return. You can only have a free state return if you are eligible to file a free federal.

can someone show me how to remove premium service? i do not like to pay for audit defense or extra $20. The link/description below do not work. please help

How do I remove the Premium Services bundle?

If you want to remove Premium Services, you need to do so before completing your order and before using any of the features, though you won’t have to clear and start over. Here's how to delete Premium Services from your order.

Open or continue your return
Select File in the left-hand menu to view the final steps before filing
Select Revisit next to Step 1-You've chosen to deduct your TurboTax fees from your federal refund
Scroll down to the Premium Services Benefits section and select Remove
Select Remove and Pay With Card
Select View Payment Options
On the How would you like to pay for TurboTax screen select Pay Now (Pay with Federal Refund is only available with the Premium Services bundle)

Anyone working on deductions it will pop up with a charge to itemize deductions on the free version. DO NOT SELECT this or you will never be able to go back to the free version. You will not get more by itemizing being the standard deduction unless the number shown is greater than what is shown in standard.

You will then have to pay for both the federal and the state.

The only way to resolve is to use another tax filing service that offers free filing.

- Which is what I am having to do after 20 years of using turbo tax.

Hope this helps someone from making this costly mistake.

I am furious that I am expected to pay $209 for a federal return! 1 W2 and 1, small amount, 1099. I do NOT need all the services of premium and frankly I DO NOT know how I ended up having to choose it. Clarity is not our friend on these tax websites. The directions below to remove premium do not apply. There is no "REVISIT" option in step one. It says "START"". There is NO option to remove benefits.

Have you already for paid/ If you are wanting to downgrade to a different version you can do so by following the steps in this TurboTax FAQ here.

You can also clear and start over. As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered your product, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online. If you have done any of these things, you'll need to manually edit your return. Please see the information in this TurboTax FAQ here for assistance with how to clear and start over.
