topic Dependent in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I received a question while I was doing my return on my own stating "Did I have filed taxes last year".

My parents claimed me on their taxes last year and they did file. Therefore does my mother claiming me on her taxes count as me having my return filed last year. This is the first time I'm doing taxes on my own and would love the help.

No. Being claimed as a dependent on your parents' tax return does not mean you filed a 2021 tax return. If YOU actually prepared a 2021 tax return for income YOU received in 2021, you filed a tax return.
