I keep getting an rejection because my pin is not entered. I checked and my pin is in there from last year. it still rejected 3 times. SO I went and got a new pin from the IRS but it is a 6 digit number and the field on the form allows only 5. What do I do?

The Pin you received from the IRS is an IP PIN and is different from the 5 digit pin you used last as your electronic signature.

To enter your IP Pin number in TurboTax follow these steps:

Open up your return, and go to Federal.
Select Other Tax Situations.
Scroll down to Other return Info and select show more.
Follow the screen prompts to enter your IP Pin number.

To enter your IP Pin number in TurboTax follow these steps:

Open up your return, and go to Federal PERSONAL
~~Select~~ Other Tax Situations.
Scroll down to Other return Info and select/START ~~show more.~~ IDENTITY PROTECTION PIN
Follow the screen prompts to enter your IP Pin number.

Here is the problem with my pin number. We didn't have the pin number from last year and I searched for it. So I was delighted when Turbo had filled them in. The day before my husband and I applied for numbers from the IRS because we thought we need them. Of course they were 6 digits. I erased my supplied number and didn't write it down before I discovered that my 6 digits wouldn't fit. I remember the first 2 numbers as 21. All I need is Turbo to fill my number back in. I didn't touch my husbands number. Can you do that or give me the number.

TurboTax does not have your 6 digit PIN that was issued to you by the IRS. The IRS does not share your information with TurboTax.

A 6-digit PIN supplied to you by the IRS is not the same---and is not entered in the same place--as a 5-digit self-select PIN.

If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file. Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.
