Using desktop code for online software

I used TurboTax online last year to submit my 2021 taxes. I bought the 2022 TurboTax Deluxe package this year at BJ's because it included a $10 credit for my state filing. Apparently what I purchased is for my desktop (CD or download). I want to use TurboTax online instead of downloading it or using the CD because it's easier for me to use and I want to import the information from my 2021 tax return.

How can I use my license code that I purchased to use TurboTax online? I'm not finding that it's possible and don't want to pay more to use TurboTax online.

The TurboTax online editions and the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions are separate programs with a different price structure.

You cannot use the license code from one of the desktop editions on the online edition. Nor can the cost of the desktop edition be applied to the online edition.

You would need to return the software you purchased to the retailer for a refund if you only want to use the TurboTax online editions.

Sorry---the license code is only for the CD/download. It cannot be used for online TurboTax. The fees are structured differently for the desktop and online software--they are not interchangeable. If your computer does not meet the system requirements for the CD/download then you can only use the online software. But you will have to pay the price for online. See if the store will let you return the CD; or try getting a refund for it through TT. Then choose and purchase the version of online TurboTax you need.
