So I sent my tax return Feb. 26th IRS recieved it Feb. 28th.. it was accepted March 27th. DDD was April 1st. The bank I put to receive my refund couldn’t process the refund so they sent it back March 27th IRS SAYS THEY SENT ME A LETTER .. April 22nd .. and that it would be 10weeks before I knew anything else. I’m in hardship with a 2 year old. Is it really going to take 70 DAYS for me to know ANYTHING? This is crazy .

Usually the conversion from a DD to a paper check is 2 -3 weeks ...

If it has been processing for more than 21
days then you can call the IRS …

Call
the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

  When
calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re:
"Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

  So
after first choosing your language, then do
NOT choose Option 1
(refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax"
instead.

Then
press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then
press 3 "for all other questions."

Then
press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you
to an agent.

Or
you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS
offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1

    If
it's been more than 90 days since the return was accepted then you can
ask for help from the Tax Payer Advocate office:

  At
the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it
will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate.

  http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-a-Local-Taxpayer-Advocate

If you are unsuccessful with the Taxpayer Advocate for your area, you can also
try the special IRS phone number for the Taxpayer Advocate Service at 877-777-4778.

It is common (during tax filing season) for it to take in excess of 16 weeks to get a paper check in the mail if the ACH deposit of your refund fails to go through. Now I have some sympathy for you. However, there is absolutely nothing that I or anyone else in this public user-to-user forum can do to speed up the process. The check will be mailed to the address you provided on the tax return you filed. Hopefully you haven't moved since that time as that can (and will) delay things for months if not years, if you did not notify the IRS of your change of address via the guidance at https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc157

5 Years later and I have this same situation. Wealthfront denied the deposit because it was an individual account, but I had a joint return. IRS tracker said they received the refund back and was now frozen and I needed to verify myself to get the check mailed out. After verifying myself they said a physical check would be sent in 4-6 weeks and that the tracker would update.

Noticed the tracker updated again with action required. I called in and now they said they need to investigate the reason why the bank send the check back and it will take another 10 weeks to investigate. 10 WEEKS??? I called the bank and it took 5 minutes for them to explain why they denied it... so 10 weeks plus another 6 to mail out the check. The bank received the refund on April 30th and sent it back. Looks like I'll get my refund in September from this crooks at the IRS.

I paid $50,000 in taxes last year, and this is the service I get... 2024 and it takes 16 weeks after the refund was approved. America really is in decline.
