I have TurboTax Deluxe via digital download. How do I enter home office and other expenses to offset 1099NEC income? How do I upgrade my Deluxe if I need to?

My TurboTax Deluxe Digital Download will let me put in 1099NEC income earned as an independent contractor (I also have W2 income from a different job), but I cannot see how to register any deduction or credits (like home office deduction) to offset this 1099NEC income. If I need to update my Turbotax plan, how do I do this?

You bought the download? Did you get it installed on your computer? It looks like you are using the Online version instead. Do you have a black or grey menu going down the left side? Or do the tabs go across the top?

I purchased on Amazon, clicked the link provided and entered the code given to download on my computer. I did not insert a disk. I don't know if that is considered "online" or not, it was labeled as "digital download." to upload on my computer. I assume it is the online version? I have tabs along the top.

Ok that is the Desktop program. You can install it 2 ways, by CD or download. Online version you have to log into Turbo Tax using a browser each time.

In the Desktop versions Premier and below,

Go to Federal Taxes Tab

Wages and Income

Choose Jump to Full List -or I'll choose what I work on

Then scroll way down to Business Items

Then click EDIT by the business name and the next screen should be a list of topics,

Business Profile, Income, Inventory/Cost of Goods Sold, Expenses, Assets, and Final Details last.
