      <description>&lt;P&gt;Any expenses paid by the estate are deductible to the estate, yes. &amp;nbsp;If the estate was paying utilities and mortgage interest for all six of those years then it should have been filing a tax return to claim those deductions for all six years. &amp;nbsp;For 2022 you can deduct any mortgage interest and utilities paid by the estate during the 2022 calendar year.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&lt;SPAN class="enumxml"&gt;&lt;SPAN class="et03"&gt;In general.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;&lt;U&gt;&amp;nbsp;An estate or trust.........must compute its adjusted gross income&amp;nbsp;in the same manner as an individual,&lt;/U&gt;&lt;/STRONG&gt; except that the following deductions&amp;nbsp;(section 67(e) deductions) are allowed&amp;nbsp;in arriving at adjusted gross income:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&lt;SPAN class="enumxml"&gt;(A)&lt;/SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;U&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Costs that are paid or incurred in connection with the administration of the estate or trust that would not have been incurred if the property&amp;nbsp;were not held in such estate&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/U&gt; or trust........&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
