If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons:

Remove Premium Services
Remove MAX Defend & Restore
Remove a state
Remove PLUS Help & Support
Remove Pay With Your Refund

You either added a state tax return which is an additional $39 or you requested to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund, where the service charge for that option is also $39.
