I got the following error when filing my federal and state returns:

Spouse's Adjusted Gross Income (AGI)Reject Code IND-032-04

I checked the transcript for our 2021 AGI and inputted the exact number from our joint return, but got this error twice, so I'm not sure what to do. This is the exact number that the IRS has on file. The only issue I can think of is that my spouse did not have a social security number (or pin?) at the time of filing in 2021, and our tax preparer just didn't input anything in that box.

Any suggestions what to do? Thank you!

To clarify, for Tax Year 2022, did you list the taxpayers in the same order as on your Tax Year 2021 return?

Yes I did! I was listed first on both 2021 and 2022, my spouse was listed second.

If your spouse did not have a SSN or ITIN when you filed in 2021, you can try entering $0 for their AGI.

I am having the same issue filing for 2022 and I had the same problem last year filing for 2021 (had to mail in the 2021 return). The AGI that is showing on the 2022 return is what was sent in for 2021 and agrees to the tax transcript obtained from the IRS. But the return was rejected by the IRS. I have talked to the IRS and the representative agreed that the AGI that was on the Turbo tax return agreed with the IRS files. He said to call Turbo Tax. I did and the Turbo Tax representative could not help me - suggested I call the IRS !!

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2021 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time. Especially if you mailed it. That works for most people. See,
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rejections/help/what-if-i-entered-the-correct-agi-and-i-m-still-getting-an-e-file-reject/00/27031

How to correct the AGI in the Online version
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/where-do-i-correct-my-agi-in-turbotax-online/00/26311

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online/00/26258

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

That WORKED !! I put in 0 for AGI and it immediately backfilled with the prior (rejected) AGI - but I did it a second time and it took. Submitted the return and it was accepted.

Thank you !!
