Only dependents who are RELATED to you can be qualifying dependents for HOH filing status. If the dependent is a GF or BF, etc. you cannot use them as a qualifying dependent for HOH status, although you might still be able to get the $500 credit for other dependents.

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

The TurboTax program will ask you several questions after entering the dependent to determine if you are eligible of Head of Household.
