until you finish entering everything that is shown as refund /balance due is not final. are you filing separately? almost always the tax bill is higher, you lose certain credits, IRA phase-out starts lower.

if one itemizes both must itemize ( a deduction claim by one can't also be claimed by the other) or you must both use the standard deduction. you also must use separate accounts otherwise the second return entered will completely overwrite the first. a mistake that some make is one itemizes and the other uses the standard deduction. as stated this is not allowed

if you're filing jointly using the innocent spouse election look at form 8379

We need some additional information in order to provided an adequate response. Are you filing Married Filing Separately? MFS has a much lower standard deduction amount versus Married Filing Jointly.

Also, can you provide some additional information about the nature and character of your income. For example, is it all wages? Do you have any capital gains/losses, or rental income? Also, have you reviewed your withholding amounts to ensure they are accurate? Lastly, do you have any dependents or qualifying relatives?

@mackenzie1719-ya
