When you’re done entering all your income and deductions, and are ready to file, you’ll enter last year’s AGI (from the joint return, even though it was for both spouses) into a screen in the “file” section of TurboTax. (Here’s a discussion about that.)

The screen where you enter the AGI is pretty straightforward (and you can’t miss it). Getting the number itself is the part of the process that sometimes turns into a little headache. It’s easier f you used TurboTax last year, but the link has some info that should be helpful if you didn’t, or if there are other unusual circumstances.

If you filed a joint return for 2021, your AGI is the same amount for both of you. It is on line 11 of your 2021 tax return Form 1040.

You say that you are filing Single for 2022----is that because you are now divorced as of the end of 2022, or did your spouse pass away? If your spouse passed away in 2022 you can still file a joint return for 2022. So before you file using Single as your filing status, we should make that it right.
