What has happened to the TurboTax program so that my tax due/refund amount is not showing as I input information?

Until recently, as I entered information (from a 1098 for example), a panel at the top of the program screen reflected the impact on my tax bill/refund amount.

Click < or > to get the refund monitor to appear. You might also have to toggle off that “race mode” or click Review.

I've tried the corrections you suggested and the due/refund amount is still $0.

@johnandpat Perhaps it is not the "refund monitor" but the information you are entering. If "0" is displaying as your refund or tax due, then it sounds like you have not entered any taxable income. What income did you enter? Did you enter any income from which tax was withheld?

I've tried Click < or > to get the refund monitor to appear. I don't know what the "race mode" is and where that would be turned off or on. I have Turbo Tax deluxe for iMac.

@johnandpat You are saying that the refund is "0". Please take a look at your Form 1040. Is there an amount on line 35a? Or an amount on line 37? And...could you answer the question regarding what kind of income you have entered?

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

I have entered taxable income, ie. dividends and social security income, but have not entered any income for which tax was withheld. Will try that now. Thanks again.

@johnandpat Social Security is taxable IF you have enough other income --- it is possible that the income you have entered so far is not enough to make your SS taxable, so you are still seeing "zero" for a refund or tax due.

Look at line 6a and 6b---if your SS is taxable, the taxable amount is on 6b.
