If you are logging into his online account you have to get past about a dozen screens to get to where you can download the prior years tax info ... just choose anything to get past those screens as it really doesn't matter. Once you can see the TAX HOME on the left side menu scroll down ...

Don’t worry if you are not seeing a tile for Death in Life Happens. You can still prepare and file a tax return for your deceased father.

Tap My Info
On Personal info summary, tap Edit to the right of your father’s name
Answer YES to the question “I’m preparing this return for (my father) who has passed away"
Enter your father’s date of death and continue

You may have to file Form 1310 to claim a refund if you are not the personal representative.
