topic Why is turbotax calculated California tax different from FTB rate schedule for a state taxable income $1565032? in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

CA Form 540 line 19 taxable income is $1565032. Based on FTB rate schedule line 31 tax should be $157560 (married filing jointly), but turbotax calculated it to be $159183. If line 19 is below $1354550, turbotax calculated the tax correctly. Is this a bug? Is there anyway to overwrite a mistake by the software? We are required to e-file, so there's no remedy of paper filing.

Thank you for your reply. It's really helpful to know that I'm not alone 🙂 I have posted the question a second time which seems to get the experts' attention. Would you mind replying to that thread too so they know I'm not the only one experiencing the bug? They asked me to send a testcase and I'm hesitant. It seems like a real cut and dry issue and easy for them to test on their end.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/re-could-the-experts-please-check-the-top-california-tax-bracket-used-in-turbotax-2022/01/2850451#M1039448

Thanks!

I verified that the latest turbotax update has fixed this problem. Line 31 calculation is now correct. Thanks!
