We just installed a solar tracker and in Vermont you receive a 26% federal tax credit. How does this work on our year end taxes and what should either my husband or myself do in regard to our tax exemptions?

Thanks!

I found an excellent article fro you from the Department of Energy which answers all your questions regarding this credit. Guide to Federal tax Credit for Residential Renewable Energy

Generally the credit is 26% of your cost and it is applied to any amount you may owe on your federal return. The credit is not refundable, but you may carry forward the rest of the credit to other years until exhausted.
