TurboTax deluxe won’t install on my computer

I purchased TurboTax Deluxe but it won’t install on my iMac. It’s say my OS needs to be updated but I can’t on my current computer. I did see something about TurboTax Online being an option. Do I need to return this version then purchase the online version? What is the cost of the online version?
