You cannot import a 2020 W-2. Only a 2022 W-2 can be imported into 2022 software. If you are working on a 2020 return you have to key the W-2 in by hand. And....pretty much everything else has to be keyed in, too. Data is not available for import into past year tax software---only for the current year.

I can't import anything in 2020 download on mac. w2 imports trigger a crash. I've tried this on several macs. I can't move beyond that as there is no other way to trigger a w2 fill in even manually without putting in the EID and having the software crash.

On the screen where it asks you to enter the EIN just click on Continue without entering anything in the EIN box. This will take you to the W-2 where you can enter all the information manually including the EIN.
