Divorced is not a filing status. The questions ask if you are divorced because the answer may lead to other pertinent questions. But if you do not have a qualified child as a dependent you are going to file as Single if you were divorced before the end of 2022. If you have a qualified dependent you might be able to file as Head of Household.

STOP ... there is no such FILING status as DIVORCED. The program interview asks for your MARITAL status which is technically divorced (no matter how long you have been divorced) to help you determine the best filing status for your situation. If you have no qualifying dependents that will be SINGLE. If you wish to put SINGLE down as the MARITAL status you can ... there is no hard rule against doing so.
