Problem with Previous Year State Software

Trying to make a change to 2017 state return.

Still have software on computer, but when I launch the 2017 version, it says that I don't have the state software installed.

I reinstalled from the original CD, but it still doesn't recognize that the state software is there. Tried to see if I could download it from my TurboTax account, but since it came from a CD originally, I can't download the state software for that year.

I would enter the license code if I could, but I don't find it anywhere on the CD or the CD case or box. Apparently there was an insert (which no longer exists.)

Tried to PURCHASE the state software from within the program, but when I select the correct state, the program crashes.

Tried to call the help line, but couldn't get past all the voice prompts.

There was no license code for 2017. Those started with 2019. Your problem is really that the 2017 software can no longer be updated and is not supported. You do not say why you are trying to amend a return that old. It is too late to receive an additional refund for a 2017 return. What are you trying to change?

State programs for years beyond 3 years ago are usually not available by now.....thsoe who had 2018 installed "might" get lucky, but 2017 is too old.

IF you had the state installed in yoru "original" desktop software, it should have been available for use (mine still works back to 2013...)

...BUT, once you uninstalled the software, that was all removed, and the CD disk only contains the crudest of non-final Federal forms, no state, and you can no longer buy/reload the 2017 state forms ...

If you want to "amend" your 2017 state forms now, you would have to go to the state tax website, and download their forms as PDF files, and use yoru printed copy of yoru state 2017 taxes to make those changes/amendments.

North Carolina says that there is an issue with my son's return for that year that can be fixed with a change to the North Carolina return.

When I log into my account, it will let me download the South Carolina and Oregon software because I apparently downloaded them in the process of filing the return. North Carolina is not available.
