I was quite disappointed with a competitors project when I found out I couldn't e-file my federal tax return as an expat. Do any of the turbotax products allow e-filing for a US Federal Tax Return as an expat?

But remember that you are subject to the e-filing deadlines just like everyone else. Although you may get an extension for timely filing because you are out of the country, you will still be subject to the same e-filing deadline as everyone else, and if you miss it, you have to file by mail.

Well..perhpas some limitations.

Online Software:

In order to pay for the use of the TTX "Online' software, you need a US credit Card with a US billing address.

In order to get a D.Deposit refund (if you are due one) you would need a US bank with US Routing/account number...otherwise you would have to agree to get the refund on a check by snail-mail, and a place that accepts such paper check to deposit/cash.

Desktop Software:

Buying that likely would also have the same US Credit card limitations......just make sure you get it from TTX or a major authorized retailer (Amazon, Staples,BestBuy ).....and not some fly-by-night pirated junk. Or, perhaps a family member in the US could buy it for you. Once purchased, e-filing the Fed is free...BUT E-filing a state (if you happen to need one) would also require a USA C.Cd for $20 or $25 (except NY).
