Since e-filing is closed, you can only file by mail. Did you already e-file with those errors? If you e-filed with a SSN error before e-filing closed down then the return should have been rejected. What do you mean by "a dependent's name that I did not list?" If you did not list the dependent how did the dependent get on your return?

And what $7500 are you asking about?

Please provide some details. This is confusing.

I received a letter saying that one out of those things I mentioned was incorrect but after I called and spoke to someone at the tax revenue place, they said that they had sent me that check for $1400 around the beginning of that year in March, I think I would remember if I cashed a check of that amount, and there's no way I had got that check if I was barely doing my taxes then, plus it was scheduled to be a derict deposit to my checking account, right before I received that letter, I recievd one part of my return, they told me that the return would be split up into two separate deposits with thee amount of $1400 on one, and $40 on the second one totalling $1440.... I received the $40 deposit, within two to three weeks, I have the bank statement for that, but never received the second part of my refund for the amount of $1400.... I'm not 100% sure about the $7500 your saying I'm asking about. I had an agent at turbo tax online do my refund, I didn't have any complications the very first time I did it but this time it's been a whole process and I could use my refund right now due to recently losing everything in a fire,if u could help me please, I'd be grateful and most definitely appreciate your help. Thank you and have a blessed day...

Your original post said this:

Should my return be reduced to nothing after an error of my social security number not being correct or a dependents name that I did not list, incorrectly spelled,?¿

Will I still receive something since the error was not my fault. Nor do I exceed the 7500$

That is why I asked about $7500---because you mentioned it yourself. It sounds like you received the "generic" letter from the IRS that was sent to people who made mistakes with the recovery rebate credit. You tried to get the $1400 credit on your tax return, and the IRS records indicate that you already received it. And....lots of people managed to forget they received the $1400---as amazing as that seems. There were lots of mistakes made by people who received those checks and then said on their tax returns that they did not receive it. Do not depend completely on your memory. Check you bank account for deposits made between March 2021 and May 2021. And check your online account with the IRS to see what it says about sending that $1400. If the IRS shows they sent you $1400 and you really did not receive it, then you can have it traced.

Try checking your online account with the IRS (and if you filed a joint return—check for BOTH of you)

If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
