Hello

I have filed 2021 tax in the month of March 2021. Due to some issue, I am not able to file the tax online. Based on expert's suggestion, I printed my federal and state tax return forms and sent through mail. I have got the confirmation that the amount has been processed which I owe to IRS. However, the status is still showing as tax for 2021 is not processed/pending. Could someone advise me on the next steps to be taken as we are approaching next tax filing season.

The severely backlogged IRS is very slow to process mailed returns. However, you seem to know that they received your return and cashed your check. You have no "next steps" to take except to check your online IRS account from time to time to see when they post something there. The IRS is not going to send you a receipt or any sort of acknowledgement that they processed your return. If you have trouble e-filing when asked for your AGI, you may have to try using zero to get your 2022 return e-filed, since your 2021 AGI will probably not make it into the database they use to verify you in time to match your AGI with your Form 1040.
