Question on How to Get To Estimated Taxes Section

Hey guys, if anyone can help me with this, I've been doing estimated taxes this year. And just now I was going in to change my quarterly earning as it changed from what I originally estimated, but when I got to the main page the 'add a state' button is no longer present, or am I just missing it? Should I just go to 'amend taxes' which is there under the right column towards bottom of page?

I hope that makes sense, thank you!

Well, you would only use the Add A state, if you were attempting to adjust your final 2022 form1040ES to reflect the last quarter's estimated payment for 2022 taxes that will be filed in early 2023.

BUT ... TTX has permanently shut down for 2021 (which has the 2022 1040ES forms in there).

1) If you have been mail-filing your 1040ES forms and payments each quarter, you could use the paper form instead...fill it out and send it in with your final payment (link below) (though it is a bit early for sending that in, unless you are pretty sure of what you want to pay now).

About Form 1040-ES, Estimated Tax for Individuals | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)

___________________

2) OR...instead of using the paper forms, use the IRS's Direct Pay website to do a debit from your checking account.....make sure you select it as a 2022 estimated payment: Direct Pay | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)

_____________

3) In either case. make sure you have written down exactly when you paid each quarter, and how much you paid. You will need to enter the exact amounts of each payment in the 2022 software when it gets up and going.

...(But I wouldn't bother messing with any of your actual 2022 tax entries until late January 2023 or later...too many bugs and unfinished forms in anything that is available earlier)
