If the preparer left something out they should fix it for free. Ask HR Block. We don't know if you need to amend or what to do. What did the IRS say to do? What line was missing?

I had my preparer at HR block file my return and I got a notice from the IRS saying they needed more info. I called IRS and apparently my preparer forgot to fill out a line. Can I just print out a copy of the return, write in pen what I need and send it back. Or am I going to have to take it back to HR and have them change it. Because if I have to take it back I feel like they'll charge me an outrageous fee.

If your penciled in info satisfies the IRS request for "more info", your solution is sufficient.

Better to write and send a separate explanation sheet with "more info".

If you misinterpret what IRS is asking for, you will get another letter from IRS.

@sjurbanski

What exactly was missing ? It could mean more then simply "filling in a line".
