It really does not make much of a difference what type of account you have on PayPal, if you are in the business of buying and selling, then you need to prepare Schedule C.

See https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-schedule-c-form-1040

If I bought more stuff on PayPal then I grossed overall, am I able to record the difference as a negative entry? If so, how? If not, thanks for letting me know regardless.

For example, are you engaged in the business of buying and selling merchandise?

I don't have a business account on PayPal, only a personal account. But I've sold art commissions through there this year. I'm under the min gross threshold for 1099K qualifications (I'm just under $600). If you need me to elaborate more. Just let me know.

Ok, but then that goes back to my original question. If I bought more on my PayPal account then I sold, am I able to record that as negative income? Or a loss? Is so, how? But if not the that's fine. Regardless, I now have a second question how I would be able to prepare a Schedule C 1040 on TurboTax??

You enter your expenses separately as expenses.

To report your self employment income you will fill out schedule C in your personal 1040 tax return and pay SE self employment Tax. Here's a Schedule C https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040sc.pdf

You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs.

How to enter self employment income

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/self-employed/help/how-do-i-report-income-from-self-employment/00/26653

You will need to keep good records. You may get a 1099NEC at the end of the year if someone pays you more than $600 but you need to report all your income no matter how small and if you don't get the 1099NEC.

You use your own records. You are considered self employed and have to fill out a schedule C for business income. You use your own name, address and ssn or business name and EIN if you have one. You should say you use the Cash Accounting Method and all income is At Risk.

After it asks if you received any 1099Misc or 1099NEC it will ask if you had any income not reported on a 1099Misc.

If you have a loss, that will appear as such on Schedule C and you will not be able to use the free version of TurboTax.

Thanks for the help.

I do have an actual job outside though; Hence I already have a W-2 withdrawing form and a W-4 Filing form for said job. So how would the form you mentioned for the PayPal gross income and expenses apply to that.

Sorry I keep asking questions, I just am trying to be as best prepared as possible.

You have a side business. You fill out Schedule C for it. You can have both a W2 and 1099. You might get a 1099K from PayPal instead of a 1099NEC. But it is still self employment income.
