Hi nunneryj, It can be tricky finding that right amount of tax withholdings to have the amount of refund you desire. The tax withholdings are calculated by your employer based on your Form W-4. There is a great W-4 Calculator that takes you step-by-step through the worksheet,

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/w4/

Once you complete the form, give it to your employer. Then, keep a close eye on your next few paychecks to see how the changes impacted your federal income tax withholding. You can look at your total tax on your 2021 tax return, and compare it to your year-to-date federal withholdings on your most current paystub. Keep in mind that there is not a full year of impact since we are in late July.

If you want even more withheld you can adjust Additional Withholding in Step 4 (c) – Extra Withholdings – put an amount here to be withheld each pay period.

I hope you find this helpful!
