I filed 3 months late for CA NR . I owed them 2500. Will they give first time relief like IRS does?

Hello David,

You may be able to get the penalty removed for reasonable cause.

First you would need to pay the tax due including penalty and interest. The you would file form FTB 2917 to see if they will waive the penalty and sent you the money back.
